By the Numbers… Team Comments:
The team’s strengths, on average, were shooting (51.7% to 45.0% eFG advantage) and offensive rebounding (37.4% to 28.8% OReb edge).

Turnovers (17.3% turnover rate compared to 16.2% defensive turnover rate) were especially bad in game 2 (18 turnovers; 26.8% turnover rate), but they rather easily got the win over a poor-shooting Juice All-Stars team whose defensive style forces turnovers and manufacturers steals (23 forced turnovers on the strength of 17 steals in Juice’s first game!).

D1 Minnesota Goes 4-1 in Dallas
April 27, 2014

D1 Minnesota (17U) wrapped up the first session in the Adidas Gauntlet this afternoon with a 67-62 win over KC Pray and Play. The win was their fourth in a row after opening the session with a 3-point loss to the NY Rens on Friday night in Dallas (2016 Gopher target Rawle Alkins led the Rens with 13 points).

The Adidas Gauntlet is a league featuring a number of strong organizations and high-profile targets including Stackhouse Elite’s Brandon Ingram, Team Loaded’s Thon Maker and Ohio Basketball Club’s Carlton Bragg.

Where D1 Minnesota may lack big names, their team game is good enough to compete in the league and they proved that this weekend. Late Night Hoops looked into some of the statistics from this weekend’s games and is sharing certain data from D1 Minnesota’s performance.

Quick Notes: D1 Minnesota 7/22/13

D1 Minnesota made a clean sweep of the 15U, 16U and 17U championships at their event this weekend in Bloomington. They head out to Vegas later this week where we’ll also be.

17U
Delshon Strickland – I’m not sure that he doesn’t deserve strong consideration from the Gophers staff at some point. Really playing well.

Recruiting: 2014 J.P. Macura

Lakeville North high school and D1 Minnesota guard J.P. Macura has a big month ahead of him as interest from colleges has recently picked up.

Macura recently told GopherHole that among the schools he’s heard from since the Stevens news are Miami (FL) and Marquette. Today, word from the D1 Minnesota camp is that Miami has now offered as has North Carolina State. Macura’s opportunities should continue to grow in the coming weeks.
